Music Tour : The highlight of my year so far

The annual Music Tour offers the Senior Band an exciting opportunity to hit the road and perform in various interesting locations. Previously, the Tour visited Wheatbelt towns, entertaining local primary schools and communities in that region. This year, the tour ventured north. The musicians performed for schools in the Perth Hills, joined the Armadale City Concert Band’s weekly rehearsal, and took part in a workshop with Dr. Paul de Cinque at the UWA School of Music. They also enjoyed an ‘Amazing Race’ style adventure around significant musical landmarks in the city and attended a concert featuring original works by young composers at Perth Concert Hall.

Music captain, Rosie W reflects on the different Tour this year.

The 2024 Music Tour was very different to previous years. Instead of staying in Katanning, we headed up to the hills of Perth and, as usual, played our music for some small primary schools in the area and on the way home. This year, we had the experience of playing with the Armadale City Concert Band, which was one of the highlights of my trip. We also got to do a workshop at UWA which helped to refine music we performed. The Year 12 students later lead small groups on an amazing race around Perth where we had to complete challenges and tasks at musical landmarks around the CBD. Overall, Music Tour has been the highlight of my year so far and I hope that it is just as fun for the musicians next year!
