Bunbury school extends education offering

Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School is pleased to announce the expansion of its educational services with the introduction of Koolangka Learning, a new education and care facility set to open in July 2024. This facility will offer full-day care options for children aged 3 to 5 years, providing a much-needed service for the local community.

“The School already provides before and after school care, along with our bespoke Little Grammies program for 3-year-olds,” stated Mr Matthew O’Brien, Head of School. “We recognised the need for more comprehensive care options for younger children within our community, so we applied to extend our licence to better serve these families.”

Koolangka Learning, a part of Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School Education and Care, will offer full-day education and care for children aged 3 to 5 years. Starting in 2025, the service will also accommodate children as young as 12 months.

“There is a notable shortage of quality care options in the South West region. With our excellent facilities, including an expansive, natural campus, it makes sense for us to extend our educational offerings to include the youngest learners,” Mr O’Brien added.

The new service will officially open on 22 July 2024, under the leadership of Ms Kristy Holdcroft, an experienced Centre Director known for her expertise in operating education and care facilities throughout the South West.

“Kristy brings extensive experience and we are excited to have her join our team to lead this new venture,” said Mr. O’Brien.

The extended licence also encompasses the current Little Grammies 3-year-old program and the popular 4-day-week Kindergarten program, allowing families enrolled in these programs to benefit from government subsidies.

“There is strong demand for early childhood education programs. Expanding our offerings to provide this vital service to our local community is a wonderful opportunity for our School,” concluded Mr. O’Brien.
