Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School is celebrating the remarkable achievements of its Class of 2024, further solidifying the School’s reputation for academic excellence and fostering individual aspirations.
An impressive 75.4% of Year 12 students pursued an ATAR pathway this year, marking one of the highest participation rates in the region. Leading the cohort was Cooper Reynolds, who achieved an exceptional ATAR of 99.45, earning him the title of Dux of the School at the recent Speech Night. Cooper’s stellar result also secured him a place among the Top 20 Regional and Remote WA Students for 2024.
Notably, 11 students were inducted as Distinguished Scholars for achieving an ATAR of 95 or above, joining an elite group of Grammarians recognised for their outstanding academic achievements. Over one-quarter of the highest-performing regional students in Western Australia hailed from the School, with the following students joining Cooper in the Top 20 Regional and Remote WA Students:
- Lucy Marden – 98.9
- David Nelson-Palmer – 98.7
- Joshua Margono – 98.25
- Gabrielle Christie – 98.2
- Olive Reid – 98.2
Adding to this year’s accolades, eight students received Certificates of Distinction and ten were awarded Certificates of Merit from the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, recognising their consistent high performance across Years 11 and 12.
Head of School, Mr. Matthew O’Brien, commended the cohort’s accomplishments and acknowledged the dedication of the broader School community.
“At Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, we focus unashamedly on excellence, particularly academic excellence, and these results reflect just that. Cooper’s incredible achievements, along with those of his peers, set a benchmark for future cohorts,” Mr. O’Brien said.
The Class of 2024 achieved exceptional results overall:
- 22.4% of ATAR pathway students achieved scores above 95, placing them in the top 5% of Western Australian students.
- 34.7% achieved an ATAR above 90, positioning them in the top 10% of the state.
- 75.5% achieved an ATAR above 70, ranking them in the top 30% of WA students.
- The School also maintained a 100% graduation rate, a hallmark of its commitment to student success.
“These outstanding young people have not only excelled individually but have also inspired their peers and set a shining example for younger students,” Mr. O’Brien said.
“These results are a testament to the dedication of our students, the expertise of our staff, and the unwavering support of families,” Mr. O’Brien said. “Success is truly a team effort, and this year’s achievements reflect the supportive and aspirational environment we cultivate at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School.”
