Grammar Hawks travelled to HBF Stadium, newly promoted into the C Division of the ACC Swimming Championships.
Without our competitive Year 10 cohort who are on Outward Bound, our team had a modest goal of maintaining our spot in C-Grade.
A strong showing in the 100m events buoyed expectations and some courageous swims from our junior swimmers, covering older age groups kept us near the middle of the table for most of the day.
Sitting sixth overall coming into the relays, the Hawks flicked the switch, winning the Year 7 girls, third in the Year 7 boys , third in the Year 9 boys, second in the Year 11 girls and capped off the day with a triumphant win from Dusty, Alex, Matius and Lucas in the final event of the day (and their final swim for the School).
Congratulations to Melinda (Year 7), Amelia (Year 8) and Lily (Year 12) who were the champion swimmers in their respective age groups and special mention to Year 11 swimmers Ruby who finished equal third and Arianne who placed fifth in their age group.
These combined efforts earnt our Hawks the Overall Girls Shield, happily received by Year 12 Lily and saw the team place third in the overall standings – the best showing from the Hawks in many years! A notable feat as we were up against some significantly larger schools from across WA. The full results are available on the ACC website here.
